The Scottsboro wrestling team has picked up its second tournament championship of the season. Behind strong efforts from numerous wrestlers, Scottsboro edged Class 6A Prattville by 15 points to win the Hoover Invitational on Saturday.

MANSFIELD -- The Malabar Middle School wrestling team won the 24-team Meadowbrook Invitational in southern Ohio on Dec. 29. Kenny Marietta (122 pounds), Jesus Deleon (134) and Daniel Dumas (245) won titles. Alize Merrell (80) and Greg Marietta (86) took third while Qwaide McFarland (116) and Jonathon Thompson (128) were fourth.

AMERICUS — The Southland Academy wrestling team won all six of its matches, mostly by forfeits, and improved to 21-6 on the season. The team’s main competition was Valwood, in which the Raiders won by a team score of 54-30.
