    BILOXI The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources voted Tuesday that further regulation of menhaden fishing is not needed. The vote came after a review of menhaden management in Mississippi was presented to the commission. Menhaden, better known as pogies, are small, oily fish.

    Fishing on Lake Conroe is good but dodging the wind and the cold fronts has become a challenge. The surface temperature of the water is running 52 degrees in the main lake and the water is clear. The level is still little over a foot below pool at 199.86 feet and the SJRA is showing no water release.

    EASTPORT (AP) - The Coast Guard says a fishing boat crew came to the aid of a crew whose boat was sinking off the Down East coast. A distress call came in Monday afternoon from the Sea Asylum, a 37-foot commercial fishing boat from Lubec that was taking on water.

    Arizona anglers are being blessed with an 11-mile trout fishing bonus along the Lower Salt River bordering the Valley of the Sun starting Jan. 22 thanks to plentiful December precipitation and unusual winter runoff in central Arizona that has almost filled the Salt River reservoirs.
