  • Regional YMCA offering archery classes (Daily Courier)

    The Regional YMCA is now offering indoor archery for youths ages 7 to 14. The classes offer a basic introduction to the sport, safety tips, maintenance and shooting techniques. All equipment will be provided. For information, call 724-547-9622.

    I might have a new career. I went to Mayslake Sunday afternoon to see the archery-for-beginners class held by the DuPage County Forest Preserve. I missed the demonstration, due to a pothole-induced flat tire (a special thank you to the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department) but received a one-on-one tutorial afterward from Senior Ranger Pat Weber.

    21 January,2009 - Rinchen Higher Secondary School, a Thimphu based private school won the fourth national level archery meet for higher secondary schools, which was played in Punakha from January 15 to 18.

    Long Beach is replete with historic sporting venues. Colorado Lagoon and the Marine Stadium were Olympic sites in 1932. El Dorado Park hosted archery in 1984, and the Shoreline Marina downtown and San Pedro Bay south of our city hosted the 1984 Olympic sailing regatta.

    Chickasha’s fourth and fifth graders have a new sport in their PE curriculum. The district has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Wildlife Department, as well as financial support from the Chickasha Public Schools Foundation and many other generous local businesses to participate in Archery.
